Five Smiths

The Smiths are a family I know from our church. I’ve been following their adoption story for about a year now. And let me tell you, it will give you all the feels.

As is common with adoption– it’s messy. It’s hard. Everyone struggles to adapt. But I suspect this little girl and her new family are right in the middle of a beautiful redemption story. And I love those.

Tears welled in my eyes as I heard the counsellor ask the questions I already knew the answers to. “Do you wish to adopt her without reservation… Do you understand the purpose of this petition is to establish the permanent and legally binding relationship of parent and child?” More tears came as I heard the resounding “YES!” from her loving mother and father.

“Are these three girls as intelligent as they look?” said the judge. “God has been good to your family.”

After watching all this beauty unfolding through the lens of my camera, I have to agree.
